Attendance Overview
The Attendance area records when staff start and finish work. It collects clock-in and clock-out records (called punches), turns them into daily and monthly summaries, and works out overtime — which can then be carried into payroll.
The Attendance menu is split into three parts:
| Part | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Daily | Day-to-day records — work cards, calendars, raw punches, monthly summaries and importing punches. |
| Reports | Printable attendance reports. |
| Setup | One-time setup — shifts, timetables, overtime rules, assignments and clock-in devices. |
How attendance flows
- Staff clock in and out on a device (or you import the records from a file or spreadsheet).
- The system matches each punch to the right employee.
- Punches are turned into a daily record of hours worked, late arrivals and overtime, based on the rules you set up.
- These build into a monthly summary for each employee.
- Overtime and related figures can be carried into payroll.
tip
If you are new to Attendance, you don't need to use all of it. Many companies start with just the Daily pages to view and import records, and add Setup (shifts and rules) later.
See Daily Attendance for everyday tasks, and Attendance Setup for the one-time setup.
