Applying for and Approving Leave
To open this page, click Leave → Leave Application in the menu.
Applying for leave
- Click Leave → Leave Application.
- Start a new application.
- Choose the employee (yourself, or a staff member if you are applying on their behalf).
- Choose the leave type (for example, Annual Leave).
- Pick the start and end dates. The system shows how many days that covers.
- Add a reason if required, and attach a document (such as a medical certificate) if needed.
- Submit.
The application now goes to the right person for approval.
Approving or rejecting leave
If you are an approver, you will see leave applications waiting for your decision.
- Open the application to see the details — who, what type, which dates, and any attachment.
- Check the employee still has enough leave days left.
- Click Approve or Reject. You can usually add a comment to explain your decision.
Some companies use several approval steps (for example, manager then HR). In that case the application moves to the next approver after each approval, and you can see the progress on the application.
Approve or reject promptly, especially before you run payroll. Approved leave can affect pay — for example, unpaid leave reduces salary for the period.
Leave balances
When leave is approved, the employee's remaining balance goes down automatically. You can see balances on the Leave Entitlement page — see Setting Up Leave.
You can only approve or reject leave if your administrator has given you approver permission. If you do not see waiting applications, you may not be set up as an approver.
