Leave Overview
The Leave area lets staff apply for time off and lets you track how many days each person has. It also keeps a record of public holidays.
Here are the parts of the Leave menu and what each is for:
| Page | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Leave Application | Apply for leave and approve or reject leave requests. |
| Leave Entitlement | See how many leave days each employee has and has used. |
| Leave Package | A set of leave rules grouped together, then given to staff. |
| Leave Type | The kinds of leave you offer (annual, medical, and so on). |
| Public Holiday | The official holidays for the year. |
How the pieces fit together
- You create Leave Types — for example, Annual Leave, Medical Leave, Unpaid Leave.
- You group types and their rules into a Leave Package — for example, how many annual days a person gets.
- Each employee is given a package, which sets their Entitlement (their allowance of days).
- Staff submit Leave Applications, which are approved or rejected.
- Approved leave reduces the employee's remaining balance, and can be carried into payroll (for example, unpaid leave reduces pay).
tip
If you are setting up leave for the first time, do it in this order: Leave Types → Leave Package → assign to employees. After that, day-to-day work is mostly just approving applications.
