Advance Paid

Advance Paid records a salary advance — money paid to an employee ahead of their normal pay day.

When to use it

Use it when you give an employee part of their salary early. You record the advance here, and later take it back using Advance Deduct.

How to add it

  1. In the menu, go to Payroll → Payroll Items → Advance Paid.
  2. Choose the employee.
  3. Enter the advance amount you paid.
  4. Set the period.
  5. Click Save.

This page records that you gave an advance. To recover it from a later salary, use Advance Deduct.

Keep a note of when each advance should be repaid, so it isn't forgotten. Recovering advances promptly avoids confusion at year end.
