Gratuity
A gratuity is a lump-sum payment made to an employee, often for completing a period of service or as a goodwill payment when they leave.
When to use it
Use it for a one-off lump sum such as a long-service payment or an end-of-contract gratuity.
How to add it
- In the menu, go to Payroll → Payroll Items → Gratuity.
- Choose the employee.
- Enter the gratuity amount.
- Set the period it should be paid in.
- Click Save.
note
Gratuity payments can have special tax treatment, and part of the amount may be exempt from tax. If you are unsure, check the current rules with the tax authority or your accountant before paying.
